Background and Identification ¶
The Panasonic HC‑VX870 is the second model in Panasonic's 4K camcorder range released in 2015. It is identified by the model name HC-VX870 in the lower right corner of the right side of the camcorder (with respect to the front lens of the camcorder). There is also has a large 4K identifying the range of the camcorder.
The Panasonic HC‑VX870 fits comfortably in one's palm with easy access to the important buttons for recording. Opening the camcorders touchscreen attached to the side reveals an HDMI and USB port along with input jacks for audio/video and mic. The camcorder's main function is to record videos with 4K resolution in regular time, slow motion, and using stop motion with up to 20x optical zoom. Unlike the Panasonic HC‑WX970, the Panasonic HC‑VX870 has external jacks for external stereo microphone and headphones as well as the ability to connect to wifi. This camcorder is also one of the most fully featured camcorders you can purchase for under $1000.
