A coffee percolator is a type of pot used to brew coffee by cycling the boiling liquid through coffee grounds using gravity until the desired coffee strength is produced. In the 1970s, coffee percolators were widely exchanged for automatic drip coffee makers. Coffee percolators can expose coffee grounds to higher temperatures than other brewing methods. Percolators may also recirculate previously brewed coffee through the beans, resulting in potentially over-extracted coffee.
Farberware introduced its first electric percolator in 1930. Farberware percolators generally include the name “Farberware” in capital letters on the base of the device. Farberware percolators generally include a black plastic pitcher handle and lid handle, as well as a back plastic base that plugs into the wall with a detachable cord.
Farberware produces several coffee percolator models which are generally designed for coarse-ground coffee beans. Farberware percolators are usually made of stainless steel to prevent rusting and corroding from coffee.
