Background
The DELL XPS 13 9315 was released mid 2022 (June 2022) and was discontinued in 2024- early 2025.This laptop was made to focus on Students, Businesses, Professionals, and anyone who needed a portable lightweight laptop with its own features such as a built-in AI (CoPilot). This making it marketable to the global market. The prices for these laptops ranged heavily depending on the condition. It would go as follows: brand-new: $799-$1299, Refurbished: $450-$750, and pre-owned: $350-$500.
A lot of reviewers have compared the laptop to the apple MacBook Air because of how thin and portable it is, thus a great choice for customers looking for a portable device. The device has its memory and storage components soldered, which makes upgrading difficult. This makes the device comparison with the MacBook more prevalent because apple laptops are known for their soldered components. There are no known widespread failure models or manufacture recalls discovered, but the most common malfunction on the device based on the reviews from Dell’s website is that the screen flickers displaying white or multicolored horizontal lines on the screen. With over 5.5k reviews from consumers, the rating given is a 4.2 out of 5, with over 3k consumers giving it a 5 out of 5 while about 400 consumers giving it a 1 out of 5. A lot of its praise came from how portable and light it is. On complaints, some came from keyboard visibility issues, and screen flickering issues, which was one of the main malfunctions mentioned earlier.
The laptop belongs to the XPS 13 family and has a better CPU compared to devices that came out about 2 years ago before it did. The Dell XPS 13 9315 upgraded from the Intel 11th gen to the 12th gen and comparing it to recent models, the device has no earphone jack, and has a slightly higher screen ratio of 16:10 compared to the others of 16:9. It has its storage and memory soldered compared to most of the devices in the family. The model released after the Dell XPS 9315 was the XPS 9340. They both shared the same design however, the 9340 had better CPU processing power due to the upgraded CPU which went from the I5 or I7 to the Ultra I5 or Ultra I7. The graphics card also upgraded from the Intel Iris XE to the Intel Arc, making the 9340 providing better graphics performance. In addition to this, the refresh rate upgraded from 60Hz to 120 Hz. This provided better animation from the laptop, giving the laptop a smoother feel to it.
