My screen is turning on and off

Hi i have a macbook from late 2007 and if i turn on my machine the backlight in my screen does not turn on but i can still see the text but it is dark but if i put it to sleep and turn it back on it works i was wondering how to get it fixed because i did not see a article on how to fix it.

Options

Backlight issues are usually caused by a faulty inverter board or inverter cables, so I'd try replacing them. Does it work fine when connected to an external monitor?

I don't know I have never done that because I don't have the right cable

You can find the part on this website itself, look for "display cables" and "inverter boards". If you are unfamiliar with it, then I would suggest you take it to the store and get it fixed by professionals. Opening up the system would void the warranty - if you have one.
