One of the Ram slots is damaged

Hi,

It seems that one of my ram slot is damaged....does anyone has an idea (costless) to fix it. For Apple they want to change the "carte mère" (in french as I don't know the english word) and it cost a lot....my machine was bought in October 2010.

Maybe the word for "carte mère" is logic board....maybe?

Thanks for your support

Thanks for your help. I'll follow your advice. One says that ram slots should be used by pair, so I may only use two? What do you think?

Chosen Solution

carte mère + motherboard

Your motherboard has four slots that will each take a 4 GB stick of 1066 MHz PC3-8500 DDR3 SO-DIMM. My suggestion is to forget repairing it and just use the three remaining slots. 12 GIGs of RAM should be well more than enough.
