Can I upgarde this model to 2.6

MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Model A1260 2.4

Hi, I need to replace my logic board so I'm wondering if I could simply swap my faulty 2.4 and install a 2.6. and shove in 8gb of ddr3 as well.

I have no problems opening up a mac and removing bits and replacing them correctly, I m just wary about buying components that won't fit or work.

Cheers and thanks in advance

You should have no problems installing the 661-4689 2.6 logic board.

+ You will be able to replace the motherboard as Mayer stated. However, you will not be able to install DDR3 RAM as you desire. The memory manager on this ERA of MBP only understands DDR2 of the proper speed for the board (PC2-5300 DDR2, 667MHz). Officially the board will only support 4Gb of memory, but many people have been able to install 6Gb of RAM without problems. You will not be able to go up to the 8Gb of RAM you want, many have tried and failed miserably.
