I believe that this would be a 3rd gen iPod. Correct me if I am wrong.

john clanton, not sure how long this has been going on or what happened to the iPod. At this time , I wold most certainly change the battery of the iPod first. The guides for your iPod are right here. Once you changed the battery, you NEED A FIREWIRE connection to charge and to restore this model. IT will not NOT work with USB. Also, make sure that the connector is clean and that you check the cable. Hope this helps, good luck.

Hi oldtrukey03,

Thanks for all the reply on the 3nd gen iPod.

I get that you can't restore it without firewire connection, but I just found an old 30 pin connector cable, with both USB and Firewire in my 3nd gen iPod box ? Doesn't seem to work when I put usb in my Mac and firewire to wall... Only firewire to Mac will work then ?
