I've been using the V8 gamepad for a while but recently it just went off while I was trying to connect it to my android device. What can be done to restore it?

Sound like an motherboard issue...
Not sure which controller it is, does it have a removable battery? Otherwise replacing the battery is an option as well.
Do you have still warranty on it?
If not, you could open it and see if the motherboard still looks OK! (After trying a new battery).

It doesn't have a removable battery but I'll check the motherboard like you suggested
