iPod Sad Face Icon

hello there my pod is showing a sad face icon and i've read reviews about possible solutions which suggested that logic board was no good so i went out and bought one fitted it but still comes up with sad face icon. i've tried forcing it into hard disk mode but still no good. what would you suggest be the problem?

In my experience, this usually indicates a bad hard drive, or bad connector (or if you just swapped in a new drive, this may show up sometimes too).

That's usually most likely the case, I agree, bad drive or logic board (or a false positive by a bad ribbon) but it's good to go through all the troubleshooting steps apple provides. Can save you an expensive part or waste of time through some simple software fixes.
