Minimum files for Mac OSX 10.6.8 boot usb

I just bought a San Disk 240gb SSD to upgrade my aging Macbook Pro 3,1. I am wanting to create a boot usb to startup after install of the SSD. I will use time machine to migrate past files. There so much information on the internet but no clear list of want transfer to usb. I've lost my original OSX disks from late 2007. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

If I correctly understand what you are trying to do (transfer data from your current drive to boot your computer) I think the procedure I recommend in a previous post (link provided) present a more workable course of action. If you don't need the Windows partition this is a straightforward operation. Good luck
