How to run a TDM Pre-Repair

I have been researching doing the screen replacement for a SP 8 that has a damaged screen. One of the things that was indicated to perform is a TDM Pre-repair but I cannot find any information how what that is and how to perform the steps. Can you provide information?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@twiztddwg Check this guide (video) Microsoft Surface Pro 7+ Repair at 2:25. Different version same idea. TDM just refers to Touch Display Module which is the complete screen with all layers

All of the steps listed under the Repair - Specific Precautions and Warnings
"Remove rSSD (removable Solid-State Drive) whenever TDM is removed from device. rSSD removal disconnects the battery from all device logical components for safety purposes. Refer to TDM pre-repair.

This is essentially the same thing as I have found on YouTube from you for the SP 8 Pro. The information that I am trying to understand is the step to run the TDM Pre-Repair software preparation. I have not found any information on how to run that but everything I have read indicates that it is important to run that step before replacing the TDM.

@twiztddwg I have not come across anything that relates to software. Can you link a site where you 've read this? I would think that if it was such a vital step it would be in the repair manual

It is mentioned in your video at the 46 second mark:

Also mentioned on page 28 of the Surface Pro 8 English Service Guide that is also from your site:

@twiztddwg got it. They are talking about using the Microsoft Software Repair Tool Check https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us... Looks like downloading this package the SDT is included. Give it a try and run it.
