Battery is not charging, Coconut Battery results shown

Hi all,

I have a 16" MB Pro 2019 presented with a Battery is Not Charging error. I tried using my known good power adapter and used both the left/right side USB ports with the same results. I reset the SMC, but that didn't help.

The cycle count on this one shows 3..which is not a good sign. I installed Coconut Battery and will attach screenshots for your viewing pleasure. The current charge shows 0 mAh. Am I dealing with just a bad battery here or something more?

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, this is a sign of a dead battery. You will have to replace the battery now.

Cycle counts aren’t always real! The rub is if you rarely move your system from a desk leaving it alway connected then you never allow the battery to discharge, just like a couch potato gets lazy and fat!

Thanks Dan, I'm pretty sure this one sat at a desk where a designer used it and probably never unplugged it. The reason for my post is that I've seen some MB Pro's have issues charging if a particular chip on the MLB fails. I wanted to confirm that if I see "current charge shows 0 mAh," then you can bet it's probably the battery....and not that chip. Sounds safe to say its the battery.

@memphismac - Yep most likely! The temp also tells us the SMC is not charging it as it’s at room temp. But without a test batt to slide in you have no choice. I’m sure when you remove the bottom cover the batt will be puffed up!

Replacing the battery did the trick Dan. The original battery was not swollen like others I've seen in the past.
