Why are my internal speaker and microphone not working?

About a week ago, my internal speaker and microphone both stopped working on my MacBook. I've tried quitting coreaudiod, resetting the NVRAM and SVC, using safe mode, creating a new account - just about everything under the sun I could find. Nothing's worked so far. What should I do? Do I need to replace my internal speakers or my I/O board?

most likely a IO board or Cable got some waterdamage. Audio codec is located here. If you see no damage and if you know how to use boardview and multimeter - check HDA lines if they are not shorted / OL to the SOC side.

What does the sound control panel tell you? Look at both output and input

Output - Headphone

Input - Built-In

Unless you are using an external DAC or Bluetooth which should work they bypass the systems DAC.
