Center battery screw broke?

Hello! I was replacing my Mac’s battery (Air 13” 2017) and all was well until I was screwing the new battery into place, and the center screw just broke? I’ve already ordered replacement screws but now I’m trying to figure out the best way to get the broken screw part out, especially since it’s so small (like, 1mm width).

It depends!

To be clear you where screwing in, so it bottomed out. If that is the case the screw is likely loose so using two sewing needles pressed lightly into the shaft at the edges sandwiched between two tongue depressors should allow you to spin it out. Take your time as it may take a few tries.

If the threads are jammed then you’ll need a left hand drill and a jewelers vise (drill) use a sharp small carbide point scribe tool as a punch to set the drill bit in the center of the screw.
