Why does my XPS 13 9310 replacement keyboard have no power key?

I ordered a replacement keyboard for my Dell XPS 9310. It looks like it has no room for the power key. See attacked photo of replacement board with original board.

I wondered if I was supposed to cut the they keyboard, but it doesn't look like it's meant to pop out, and if I ordered the wrong one, I'd rather just return it.

I've never opened up the casing on this computer before, and I want to have all my ducks in a row before I try it.

Hi @drf24k

Just wondering if you got the wrong keyboard.

Have you got a Dell XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 laptop or an XPS 13 9310 laptop?

There's a Dell XPS 13 9310 and a Dell XPS 13 9310 2 in 1 and they have different keyboards.

I can't find the keyboard part number for a Dell 9310 but here are the part numbers (sku number) for the 9310 2-in-1 keyboards and the images show that they don't have the power button in the top right corner of the board.

If you have the 9310 2-in-1 search online for the applicable to your particular model variant part number to find suppliers that suit you best.

Here's the XPS 9310 2n1 service manual that may help.

Go to p.30 to view the procedure to replace the keyboard.

If you have the Dell XPS 13 9310 and can't find the keyboard part number, usually it is printed somewhere on the back of the keyboard itself.

Here's the XPS 13 9310 service manual Go to p.41 to view the procedure to remove the palm-rest/keyboard assembly

I have an XPS 13 9310 laptop, not the 2-in-1. I don't want to take it apart until I'm sure or nearly sure that I have the right part. It sounds like they sent me the part for the 2-in-1.

I double checked the listing from where I bought the part (not here on iFixit), and it does say 9310, not 2-in-1.

Best that I can find is the part number is RGM4C.

This is the part number for the US english International version palm-rest/keyboard assembly for a Dell XPS 9300 and a 9310, with a power button.

To be really sure you may have to open it to find out but most of the images for the part number listed above show it has a power button.

Thanks. When I read the manual (for the 9310, not the 2-in-1), it seemed that I didn't have to replace the palm rest if I only needed to replace the keyboard.

Couldn't find the keyboard only, just the complete assembly so opening it may be the only option to finding the part number for it.

It's surprising how many sellers confuse the two models as most seem to list the 2 in 1 keyboard for both
