Is there a technique to get these alligator clips back on?

I’ve been messing with this battery alligator clip connector for over an entire hour, and I finally broke it in half. This is after it went flying across the room and I had to get on my hands and knees with a magnifying glass to find it.

Okay, it’s broken. Not the biggest deal in the world, I can pull one from another board, but HOW do you get it on?

What you have here is the fold down ZIF latch that’s broken.

You can get a replacement connector to then salvage the latch from it to place onto the soldered on connector or if you have the tools and skills you can also just replace the connector. Here’s one source BMU Cable Connector
