Can I reuse the camera?

Hiya! I have a A2141 with a badly cracked screen. If I purchase a replacement screen will I be able to reuse the camera, since it's "locked" to the Macbook?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Not sure I follow your logic here… the replacement display assembly will have a new camera. You can’t really replace the display panel it’s self.

So as far as your old camera unit Apple’s interface logic really won’t let you connect the camera externally via USB. So it’s not something really doable. But if you want to experiment give it a try.

Is the camera modular? Will I be able to remove the working camera from the broken screen and attach it to the "new" screen assembly.

@iggys - it is not a replaceable part on its own! The screen panel is likewise not available independently. Apple didn’t design the lid to be taken apart.

That's what I figured. Thanks Dan!

If you have the curiosity take your old display apart. I’m sure a few people would like a peek inside! Take some good pics as you go about it to create a guide here.

If you’re good don’t forget to accept the answer - Thanks!
