What is that element on smartphone pcb and what it does?

I have XZ1 Compact and have questions regarding a particular elements (see screenshot)

I have three questions:

What this element is for under "12-25" number on the PCB?

Why on the phone back plate the glass, underneath where "12-25" element is located, is darkened? Is it some kind of polarization?

What will happen if that darkened layer is wiped out and becomes transparent, what it will affect?

Right, I also researched a bit as well, to be more precise it is ToF sensor and tinted flash lens is needed to cut out particular light waves. Thanks a lot!
