Face ID and portrait mode not working

There is a prompt that there is a problem with the true depth camera in settings when I try to set up Face ID. How can I resolve this? Ambient light and proximity sensors are also working.

Options

Either the IR projector or its sensor are not working. Review Step 14 in the iPhone XS and XS Max Teardown. A star as I know you will need to visit an Apple Store or ship your phone to Apple for this part to be replaced as its tied to the phones security.

Replacing it will disrupt your access to the phone, if you can disable FaceID services.
