How to apply stretch adhesive to the replacement battery

I am wondering how to apply the stretch adhesive to the replacement battery just before placing the battery into the upper case? Does it need to be applied horizontally or vertically?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Refer to Step 24 in this guide MacBook Pro 16" 2021 Battery Replacement and here's the needed strips https://www.ifixit.com/products/stretch-...

I always mount the stripes as Apple intended in this series. Refer to both images in the Step. They go in both directions!

Yes, I've looked at the guide. When I've looked at the strips from the Apple manual, I see they are much smaller than the ones from iFixit. Does that mean 14 strips need to be purchased from iFixit to satisfy the number mentioned in the guide? Currently, I have 4 strips purchased. What my question is, are the strips from iFixit the same as the ones from Apple?

@allagashsage - They go in different directions! Note the holes in the case and the diagram from the battery side. Also note the strip removal procedure in the flowing steps. And yes you'll need to get a few more strips and for the shorter ones cut them down.

Sadly, Apples own self repair manual doesn't even offer the battery alone! You have to buy the entire Upper Case assembly which is over three times the cost! Yet Apple did finally address the highly questionable approach of gluing the batteries in so there is more of a risk.
