Keyboard issue: occasionally letters are doubled when typing

I inherited a 2017 macbook pro13" with retina display.

I've cleaned the keyboard pretty thoroughly and was not able to find a hardware reason for this.

I've reset the SMC, tinkered with the keyboard settings in Preferences, and there was no effect on the issue.

Any ideas on what else I could do?

Answer this question I have this problem too
