iMac Airport driver causing CPU panics, antenna looks rusted?

Block Image

As you can see in the photo, the Wifi antenna looks discolored, almost rusted. The rest of the iMac looks fine, just the normal dust. The Wifi works a bit, will connect to 2.4 but says the password is wrong on 5Ghz networks (it's not). The iMac will restart randomly with an Airport driver as likely suspect. I'm thinking of removing the board and just using a USB dongle but was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on what's going on here. Thanks in advance!

I would replace the antenna unit as it’s possible it’s shorting out.

As far as a USB dongle I think you’ll have a hard time finding one. You’ll need an Ethernet to WiFi bridge to connect via the systems Ethernet port. Thaway you can get the full data rate.
