How do I repair a faulty disc drive daughterboard?

So I bought a xbox one x motherboard off of ebay that said it would not read discs. They said that they tried different disc drives and could not figure it out. I also am not sure what to do as I have tried a disc drive that came with it but there was some damage to it. I ordered a new disc drive but in the meantime im troubleshooting some other potential problems. I have a second functional daughterboard but its older than the one i have and the processors on them are different. They are a couple years apart. I have seen online that these processors can go bad causing discs to not be read. Also i might want to mention that nothing pops up on the screen when the disc is inserted. It just spins and wont let me eject the disc.

Options

Failed or mismatched disc drive controllers will cause the system to throw E100 703 and Hresult 8091xxxx errors, which I think it means core firmware update failed at board/drive firmware level, unable to communicate and authenticate with the disc drive.

Check if it survives a system update/restore, if so, the chip control logic is fine.

im very sorry for the late response. It does allow allow updates and restores the only thing it wont do is read any kind of disc. Games, bluray all of it. It wont read them.
