Washer fills, agitates, then turns off

Hey all,

We have had this MVWP576KW1 washer for a year and just moved and recently it has stopped working. The washer on a normal cycle fills, agitates, then when it gets to the time to drain the washer shuts off. It is still full of water at this point. I have replaced the water inlet valve (stupid but it was one suggestion I saw), the drain pump, and now the control board. None of these have resolved the issue and we are just looking at replacing the whole washer now. Any insights before we have to do that?

I have thought about the door latch but it hasn’t locked yet and when you do open the lid, it just pauses the wash cycle.

Hi @vzviblbrjn6p7ky

Here's the tech sheet for the washer that may help.

Run the diagnostic tests as shown on p.2 Activating the Service Diagnostic Test Modes and check if any error codes are being displayed indicating what may be wrong with the washer.

To interpret the status LEDs to know what the error code is see p.3 Fault/Error Code Display Method.

The fault/error code description, showing possible causes for each of the codes, is on p.6→p.7

Thanks @jayeff. I have tried that before and during all of this and the machine is not giving an error code. That was one of the reason I thought it might be a control board issue, but upon installing a new OEM board today it still failed to run a full cycle and failed at the same point where it needs to drain.

When the washer fails is the diagnostic LED on the control board (see p.2) on or off?

If off, see Test #1 Main Control on p,12 It could be the shifter assembly or a wiring problem

You were correct, it was a wiring problem. The wires leading to the drain pump were abraded through and it seems the power to the pump was shorting to the frame of the washer and causing the board to reset. The wiring harness had some abrasion tape on the wires and the cut happened just outside of the taped portion. Thank you for the help and I hope this might help others in the future!
