Ps button on ps4 controller is automatically long pressing

My Ps4 controller is acting weird

To keep it as short as possible, so i was playing GOW one day and suddenly my ps4 controller got turned off (it had full battery), and when i tried to switch it on it wont. When i plug it in the charger it is charging normally so it did not die on me, and i could narrow down the problem but there was no solution on the internet for it so here i am. ( i have opened it up and cleaned it properly)

Basically what happens is the controller is thinking that is PS button is long pressed the whole time. When i single press the button it registers as a long press and when i keep it idle then it switches off like when you hold the ps button for 5-7 seconds then it wont turn back on so i have to open it up again and reassemble ( and no the casing is not tight ive tried when the case is loose and super tight) When i open it up and reassemble it, it works fine for a few minutes and then the problem starts again.

The button works just fine without the plastic case when i press the rubber pad on the circuit ribbon button but the problem starts after a few minutes when i reassemble it. The pad is sitting in the correct position as well so no problem there. Any anyone help me with this or has anyone faced this situation before?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I’m sorry to hear that your PS4 controller is acting weird. It sounds like you have tried some possible solutions, but none of them worked. Here are some more things you can try to fix the PS button problem:

  • Check if the rubber pad under the PS button is damaged or worn out. If it is, you may need to replace it with a new one. You can find replacement parts online or at a local repair shop.
  • Check if the ribbon cable that connects the PS button to the motherboard is loose or broken. If it is, you may need to reattach it or replace it with a new one. You can find a guide on how to do this here1.
  • Check if the PS button is stuck or jammed by something inside the controller. If it is, you may need to clean it or remove the obstruction. You can use a toothpick, a cotton swab, or compressed air to do this.
  • Try using a different USB cable or port to charge your controller. Sometimes, a faulty cable or port can cause the controller to malfunction. Make sure the cable and port are clean and in good condition.
  • Try updating your controller’s firmware. Sometimes, a software glitch can cause the controller to behave strangely. You can update your controller’s firmware by following these steps2:
    1. Connect your controller to your PS4 console with a USB cable and turn on your console.
    2. Go to Settings > Devices > Controllers > Update Device Software.
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

I hope these tips help you fix your PS4 controller PS button problem. If none of them work, search more tutorials on the IFifxIt website 😊

Maybe you need to replace the ribbon connector for the PS Button because I had this issue a few years ago and that fixed it for me.
