iPod Battery very low all the time

First, I picked the Hard Drive above not knowing what is inside the iPod, so forgive me for that as I didn't have an alternative. My question is as follows: is it possible to replace a 1986 iPod with new one? Any advice is appreciated.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@mlb_fixit yes it is but we need to know what model your iPod is. take a look on here https://www.ifixit.com/Search?doctype=to... and see if you can identify it for us. Most of the iPod guides on here have the battery replacement documented.

I'm sorry to hear that your iPod battery is very low all the time. It sounds like you have a very old iPod model from 1986, which is probably not compatible with the current iTunes or iOS versions. You may want to consider replacing your iPod with a newer one, such as an iPod Touch, which has more features and storage capacity than the iPod Classic. Here are some possible ways to replace your iPod:

- You can buy a new iPod Touch from Apple or other authorized retailers. The latest model is the 7th generation iPod Touch, which has a 4-inch Retina display, an A10 Fusion chip, an 8-megapixel camera, and up to 256GB of storage. It also supports Apple Music, Siri, FaceTime, and many other apps. The price starts from $199 for the 32GB model¹.

- You can trade in your old iPod for a 10% discount on a new iPod at an Apple Store or online. Apple will recycle your old iPod and give you a gift card that you can use to buy a new one. You can check the trade-in value of your old iPod here².

- You can repair or upgrade your old iPod yourself or with the help of a professional service. You can buy replacement parts or kits online, such as batteries, hard drives, screens, and cases. You can also follow online tutorials or guides on how to fix or modify your old iPod. However, this option may be risky, difficult, or expensive, depending on the condition and model of your old iPod. You can find some examples of repair or upgrade services here³ and here⁴.

I hope this helps you decide what to do with your old iPod. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask me. 😊

thanks so much for your quick reply. Very helpful. Just a note: it is compatible with iTunes and I run Monterey 12.7. But you info on alternatives is very worthwhile and I am very happy that you sent the information to me. Best regards.

@mlb_fixit but i reccomend you keep that ipod for a while. they can be worth a lot of money as collectibles. According to The Guardian, some listings on eBay for factory-sealed or rare iPod models have asking prices ranging from $1,000 to $20,0002. Of course, these are not guaranteed to sell for that much, but they do indicate the high demand and nostalgia for old Apple products. Some factors that affect the value of an old iPod are its condition, storage capacity, design, and original packaging. If you have an old iPod lying around, you might want to check its model and see if it’s worth anything on the online market. You never know, you might have a hidden treasure in your hands!
