SuperDrive is DEAD---want to replace with same or better

looks like the replacement is easy enough. I saw a good vid on youtube about it. Like to replace with the exact same drive or better--Please send links to where I can find both options and pricing. Also I saw on the video that there was the main data/power cable and then a 2nd cable attached to somithing--what is that send cable and what is it attached to---will it need to be sodered back on?

Has this been a commom issue? Drive has not been used much at all in the last year and a half--I think I bured two dvds or CDs and watched 3 !!

Yes there's a "known issue" with some of these SuperDrives - if still under warranty it may be replaced. You could also use your SN# @ apple.com/support to find out if there's extended warranty coverage for your unit.

If you Identify your Mac you can easily access parts.

Many have elected to use an external optical drive.
