Hi Randall,

Generally on most modern televisions it's not economically practical to replace a failed or broken LCD, but we don't know for sure that's the problem with your TV until we get more information.

What we really need to be able to help is the exact model number of your TV and pictures of the kind of problem you're seeing.

@danielalo, Sorry I didn't see this sooner, Daniel, but I'm afraid I don't have good news for you. The price on replacement displays is outrageous, that is if you can find one, which is doubtful. About all your TV is good for now is as a parts donor for other TVs that have bad internal components. There is a market for the circuit boards inside, but outside of that it's time to recycle the television.

The only other possibility would be to find a TV of the same model that has other problems such as a failed power supply or motherboard, then use the parts from yours to get it running again.

I have a 55in ch RCA Roku Smart TV (ATSC Tuner)Model: RTRU5528-B-CA. Bought it two years ago. I moved and didn’t bring it with me and stored it in storage unit, until now plug it in to set it up and all I got was what was in the picture. Reset it, nothing! Was told the screen is cracked, but not see it. Anyone know? Is it a bulb or do I need to get a new TV? Please help don’t what to purchase a new one.

Hi Cindy,

I hate to have to tell you, but that's definitely a cracked screen. Although it is possible to replace the LCD, on anything bigger than about 30 inches it becomes economically unfeasible. Even if you can locate a replacement part (and they generally prove to be very difficult to find), the cost is usually as much or more than what you would pay just to buy a new TV.

At this point you could disassemble it and advertise the boards inside for parts and maybe the power supply, but other than that it's pretty much scrap at this point.

Sorry I don't have better news, but it's proven to be the case that the bigger the screen, the less likely it is you'll be able to replace the display.
