Does anyone know of a hack where I can use my Mac to browse the internet using my Blackberry to connect? USB? Bluetooth? Is there software for it?

Thanks, Frank

AFAIK Some carriers allow tethering and some don't. The device definitely is equipped to do this, but the risk of a huge data bill at the end of the month could negate the advantage!

Remember: data used when a device is used as a tethered modem will most likely be considered WAP data and be deducted from your "3GB" allowance

Some carriers may have to assign a separate data plan. Probably the data will ONLY be included when you are in a 3 broadband zone otherwise you could be charged extra.

IMnsHO it would be cheaper and easier just to pick up a 3G (or Next G) prepaid modem and use that for your portable internet connection.

"The Company" pays for the phone. But still I would use it as a backup where no other service is available for only essential business use. Perhaps a dedicated unit would be more economical as long as there is an unlimited data plan available. Thanks

Even though "It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission" In this economic climate I'd think twice before sticking a company with a large unexpected bill of any kind.

The company needs to learn they have to pay if they want to play.

Tether (Formerly Tetherberry) has much improved lately. It seems they are coming out with new versions monthly.

I suggest trying that first, and being patient with the connection, as it sometimes drops for odd reasons. In a pinch, however, Tether works great.

One feature request I'd have for them would be to allow Tether to continue to run in the background on both the BB and make an iPod touch/iPad app using OS4.0 using multitasking. It would be killer if I could just tether my iPad to my BB instead of plunking down the extra monies for the 3G version.
