SE2020 started kernel panicking after I updated to 16.3.1 from 15.7.1

My SE2020 also has this issue. It started when I updated to iOS 16.3.1 from 15.7.1 in March. So did a fresh install however it didn't fix it so I performed a DFU restore. It was fine till June, then it started kernel panicking after I updated to 16.5. Around 20 days back I took it to the Apple store and they ran some diagnostics and said the hardware was fine, and they proceeded to do a DFU restore. It worked fine till around 10th July, then it started doing this AGAIN.

10th July-

userspace watchdog timeout: no successful checkins from mediaserverd in 180 seconds\nmediaserverd last exited with reason namespace: SIGNAL, code 9\nservice: backboardd

13th July-

userspace watchdog timeout: no successful checkins from SpringBoard in 180 seconds\nservice: backboardd

On 15th July I got tired of iOS 16 and decided to try the iOS 17 Public Beta 1

Things were fine for the first 5 days

20th July morning-

userspace watchdog timeout: no successful checkins from CommCenter (2 induced crashes) in 180 seconds\nservice: backboardd

20th July evening-

userspace watchdog timeout: no successful checkins from SpringBoard (2 induced crashes) in 180 seconds\nservice: backboardd

What do I do to end this?

Well crap, generally for most people once they got off the earlier versions of iOS 16 that took care of it, but obviously that's not working for you. Alisha (@flannelist), what do you think? Is it possible to downgrade the OS back to 15.7.1 before the trouble started?

@repairmaus, can you post the full first page of your panic log? There's sometimes more information beyond the few lines you've shown.

@dadibrokeit Reverting is a possibility, I would be curious to see if that helps honestly. I haven't seen any of these that persisted through restore. @repairmaus Are you restoring from a backup after the initial reset? It could be there's something in the backup that your phone just hates now.

If you want to try and revert to iOS 15, you'll need a version that Apple still signs, otherwise the install won't finish. I can't verify whether or not they still do this for a XS Max installer, but I can't imagine they don't. But you WILL need to be able to find a XS Max .ipsw for the targeted version of iOS. My usually spot for these doesn't have any for the XS Max on iOS 15.

If you can get an .ipsw (it's just the installer for the OS) of a version for the XS Max that is still signed by Apple, then you can use that file to restore that iOS to your device. be aware that backups made on newer versions of iOS will not be compatible.

@dadibrokeit Hi! I have attached screenshots of the panic logs in the original post.

No I am not restoring from a backup. I have been setting up the device as new. The phone is always fine for the first few days then the panicking starts and slowly increases in number. Little more background- I went to the Apple store on 5th July and they did a DFU restore to 16.5.1, everything was fine till 10th July. Since the 10th it has kernel panicked 6 times. Once on 10th, once on 13th, twice on 20th, once on 21st and once on 22nd.

@dadibrokeit Hi! Thanks for responding, I have attached the screenshots as an edit to the original post.

No I have not been restoring from a backup. I do use iCloud Photos and iCloud Drive and all.

@dadibrokeit Should I post the entire logs here? Is it safe to do so?
