Replacement battery has manufacture date of 2015-03-30

I just purchased and received a replacement battery for my mid-2014 MBP 15". Upon installing the new battery and firing up coconutBattery, it is reporting that the new battery was manufactured 2015-03-30. Is this correct or just an error? I really hope my new battery has not been sitting on a shelf for 8 years.

Answer this question I have this problem too

I just installed a new battery from Ifixit yesterday and coconut battery reports that it was manufactured in 2015 and the health of the battery is at 91%

Anything to be concerned about?

@dustincarp20440 it might be ok as a lithium battery has 600-1000 cycles so check what cycles the battery has and if its low it should be ok

I am having the same problem and I am quite concerned. Batteries do age on the shelf and these should not be sold as new stock anymore.

The new battery has not been a great experience for me. I honestly probably won't bother buying iFixit batteries in the future based on this experience. They sold me an 8+ year old battery that constantly goes from 50-60% charge to dead even after multiple attempts to calibrate it. I've done all of the standard troubleshooting such as nv ram reset and letting it completely drain and then charge to full. It takes 4+ hours to fully charge from 0% but then depletes within 2 hours even with very light workloads or just being in sleep mode.

I've ordered a battery from ifixit as well for my 2015 model. Coconut battery shows the exact same date to me, maybe it's a manufacturer's thing? It's been working perfectly for 2 months now with pretty heavy use. Yours may just be defective?
