Shorted STEAM button, how to fix?

Bought it off of some guy for $450CAD and he didn't say it was broken. Paid cash so can't return it and he is ignoring me. Valve refuses RMA because it was reported to have been water damaged. How can I fix it?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

If there was liquid damage, step one is just going to be to tear it down and get the lay of the land. it could be that only a very small part is affected. In which case, the Deck is petty modular and you can probably replace just that part if need be.

Check for any signs that liquid got in and where it may have gone. You may get away with just cleaning it up depending on the issue.

The daughter board looks clean and there are no signs that liquid entered here really. But that's what valve said happened to it. :/
