Changed the battery but not charging/turning on

My battery was staying at 1% even while charging and system preferences advised a new battery. I changed the battery, but now the computer will not turn on even if I disconnect the battery. I followed all the steps and used esd safe tools and I was esd anchored. Any suggestions about how I can possibly fix? I have tried a SMC reset but the best result I got was the touch bar flashes red once on two occasions. I have not been able to get it to replicate again.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Make sure that you are connecting a known good 140W USB C charger when you attempt to power it on. Anything less than 140W may be unable to power on the computer or charge the battery from a fully discharged state. If you are using the correct wattage charger, the it may be possible you have a larger hardware issue with your computer, possibly a damaged logic board, in which case you'll need to do more advanced hardware troubleshooting. Good luck!

I thought the macbook pro 2019 16" used a 95w charger? That's the one I found that was recommended when I looked it up.

@davidhockaday You're right - it looks like this model requires the 96W charger. Confirmed by looking at the tech specs under the section for power. https://support.apple.com/kb/SP809?local...
