Fingerprint Sensor Not Working After Screen Replacement

So yesterday I had my screen replaced (was grenaded after it met my bed frame edge) and it all went perfectly fine. The only thing that bothers me now is the fingerprint reader. I can register new fingerprints without a hitch like normal, so I know it's working fine, but after setup my fingerprint just doesn't work, like something is suddenly making it not read. Has anyone else ran into this?

Answer this question I have this problem too

If you transferred the original finger print sensor from the old display to the new one, it typically requires recalibration. If not, then the finerprint sensor is programmed to that specific device and a new or replacement one won't work without reprogramming it. As far as I know, oneplus doesn't make the reprogramming software publicly available. Thanks, OnePlus!

This one on eBay should do the trick https://www.ebay.com/itm/275420607111?ch...

Oh wow, that's odd. I would've thought that with the sensor being in-built that it would just be plug and play like the display and literally every other capacitive thing with it. I haven't tried the usual troubleshooting like rebooting and such (and I'm not factory resetting this phone unless I'm selling it). Guess I'll see where the links you provided get me. Is that same tool available on Amazon by chance?

If you can register new prints have you removed any old prints then tried again?

@razorx you'd think it would work like that but no. I haven't seen it on amazon but it's worth a shot to check

OnePlus said that no calibration is necessary after installing a replacement screen and digitizer on the OnePlus 8 Pro. Current as of 06/10/2023.

@schleems18 it must be necessary surely. Otherwise how does my fingerprint register fine but never works in practice?

by

I haven't attempted changing or adding a new fingerprint, everything functioned as it had before the screen replacement. Have you tried a factory reset? You could also try adding the same finger a couple times, just in case.

by

@schleems18 I'd much prefer not factory resetting, I don't want to go through the faff of recovering everything. And I did try adding a couple times, no avail. As of late I've just been living without it

I'm facing the same issue
