What is adhesive needed for the screen on iPhone?

Hello.

I'm looking for a new screen for my iPhone 4 including the glass and everything and I asked a seller on Ebay if it included everything and he said it didn't include any adhesive.

So the question is what is adhesive and what does it do? The seller didn't understand what I was asking about.

Would someone please explain to me what it does and why it's important to have? :)

Thanks in advance, Gronko

if you are only buying the front touch screen, called the digitiser, without the LCD (picture screen/display) attached then you will need to also buy an LCD. Usually they are sold as a complete unit as it is almost impossible to separate the 2 screens without damage to one or the other. Take a look on the solutions screen to see what others have done or as is the common theme..been unable to do. The front screen/digitiser is attached to the midframe using screws not adhesive, but you will need some way of keeping the LCD secure behind the glass. Again check on the solutions to see what people are doing.. take a look at this guide to see what I mean.iPhone 4 Display Assembly Replacement

iPhone 4 stock from Apple has two sided adhesive at top and bottom of the iPhone front screen. When you remove the front screen this adhesive remains with the iPhone midframe. So you just install the new front screen and basically reuse the old adhesive. If your front glass is extremely shattered, you may want to remove either or both the top and bottom adhesive. In this case it is not necessary to install new adhesive, just go without. This is how most repairs are done, use what remains, or just go without the adhesive because it is not necessary.
