Im in the same situation, was swamping the charge port board and the front camera enough for the phone to work?

Yeah you should be interchangeable just make sure you have the corresponding charge port for the new motherboard, otherwise you'll end up with service issues. You'll also need the corresponding front facing camera because I believe they are paired together. If you don't have that camera I believe the cameras won't work.
