What part of the y button will have broken

The y button on my Nintendo joy con is not working and I am trying to repair it but I don't know what part of the joy con will need to be replaced to get it working again all the other buttons are functional.

Thanks in advance

That's the thing, we wouldn't know because we have less visibility into what broke in your device than you, you are the one to find out.

You can peel off the button dome switche stickers and replace with new ones, also clean the contact pads beneath it if there aren't other major faults with the board.

Most likely, you either have dirty buttons or a worn out metal dome sticker. You'll need to get down to the buttons, and clean:

  • The buttons
  • The sides of the case they rub against
  • The rubber pad under them

If it still doesn't work, then like the above answer said, you probably need a new metal dome sticker
