Is it possible to use 32GB of RAM?

I just got a CPU upgrade for my iMac (i7-3770s) and now I’m wanting to do a RAM upgrade whilst the logic board is out. Intel’s website says that the max memory is 32GB, but I don’t know if it is different on the iMac, because you know, apple… Also it is the 21.5” model so there’s 2 RAM slots and you have to take the logic board off to upgrade.

Thanks, Ryan

Sorry, you’re stuck at 16GB.

While the CPU can address 32GB you only have two SO-DIMM slots. The 27” offers the four SO-DIMM slots and can support 32GB.

Wait, what if I use two 16GB modules?

@ottobunnycoder - This gets into which came first! I don’t think Apple enabled all of the address lines to support the denser SO-DIMMs. But if you’re game give it a try! But make sure you can return them if it fails.

I cannot find any documentation that will prevent you from using 2 16gb sticks for 32gb of ram.... However... apple.... so if you find cheap sticks I would give it a shot worst it will do is yell at you.
