How to cut off electricity supply to a logic board?

My MacBook is unable to turn on at all. I read the instruction of Apple Support(https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204267) and tried pushing the power button for 10 seconds but there was no reaction....

I asked a local repair shop for advise and was told to try to remove some cable from a logic board to cut off eletricity supply from a battery and wait for a couple minutes. So I read the Repair Manual(https://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/2...) but I'm not sure what cables are corrent to detach. Taking off the battery management unit (BMU) flex cable is enough?

That’s a reasonable step for troubleshooting no power. For additional clarification I would have a look at the iFixit Battery Disconnect Guide for this model.

If that doesn’t get your machine to power on, there’s also a MacBook Won’t Turn On troubleshooting page that might help if you want to dig deeper once the bottom case is off.

Also, make sure to check your warranty before getting too far. These haven’t been out too much longer than a year, so it’s possible you might be covered by Apple.

I would carefully put things back together and bring your system to an Apple Store as you likely have either a bad battery or logic board both of which should be covered under warranty. But the clock is ticking!

Unless there are signs it's been opened or Apple will do nothing. They'd rather sell a new one.

@strongbow - Let’s not be so negative!

I’ve sent people to Apple without any issues when it’s clear the issue is theirs. Even if the warranty window has slipped by a month Apple often fixes things, more so when you request a warranty exemption.

@danj Not negative, just the way apple usually work.

@strongbow - Here in the states I guess we have it much better then!

Even I’ve taken customer gear in (I have an Apple Store just about 2 miles from my home). Because they were intimidated with Apples process which is designed to be hard. I haven’t gone recently but a few Apple folks know me and treat me well. Even when I don’t have an appointment.
