Stupid question I’m sure but

So looking through the breakdowns of this counsel why not take out disc drive

And use the power and data cable for a hard drive

I was meaning add a big ssd so you could have more games internal

@vikingrmcnugget but why lose the optical drive? Just replace the SSD with a larger SSD might be a better option. Xbox Series X SSD Replacement

@vikingrmcnugget why would you. It use at 1TB SSD and some games still come on optical disks. Would be hard to play those without the optical drive :-)

Not to mention the console just bricks if the original disc drive is missing.

It has a few USB ports and a CFExpress expansion slot for that, what's the point?
