blank screen works fine on external only if dp cable is unplugged

symptoms: no image black screen, works on external only if Display port cable is unplugged

diagnostic leds - all on except the last one which is pulsating faintly

problem started after a power failure …

I ruled out most of the parts including screen , cables , powerh source

I have a spare same model with faulty motherboard is there anything else I can try?

it all points to the display-port connector but problem started when Imac was never touched inside still sealed

. any other suggestions ?

To be clear, you plug in the external and fully disconnect the internal at which point the system is functional using the external display. If you plug the internal back in neither display works.

This then sounds like the logic board display data connector is messed up. To be sure plug in only the power cable it that still works then it’s the logic boards display connector.

Take some nice sharp pics of the connectors both logic board and cable. Need to see into the connector and both sides of the cable.
