MacBook Pro charger gets hot when it starts charging.

Block Image

Hello, please some one help me out.
My mbp's charger gets very hot when it starts charging. when the light turns amber, the charger connector becomes very hot. in order to use my mac i have to disconnect the charger so it cools down a little before plugging it in again. I opened it up, just to find out that the battery is swollen, and lately my battery doesn't last very long.

My theory: "The charger gets very hot because it is over working to charge the damaged battery reason why it get very hot, in conclusion the battery has to be changed".
However I'm not a pro and not sure of how viable my hypothesis is.

please somebody help me I'm really having a hard time with having to do my school work on my computer.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Dre just based on this "just to find out that the battery is swollen, and lately my battery doesn't last very long." alone, replace your battery.

The best way to diagnose what’s happening is using this gem of an App CoconutBattery the free version is all you need, but I do recommend using it to keep track of your battery’s health.

Post a snapshot of the main screen with the battery tab opened up while the system is under charged here for us to see.

In the meantime check your MagSafe socket for dirt preventing the cord to fully seat and the contacts are clean and shiny too.

Hi Dan, thank for making out time for me.

I have updated the post with the image you requested for.

And I'd like to add that I also did a test with charger while the backed of the machine was opened, I disconnected the battery and tried to plug the charger, The indicator turned on "Green" them amber I let it plugged for like 1 hour but it didn't get hot like it does with the battery on.

@drec0xy - Yep! Time for a new battery. Batteries only last 4 to 5 years.

@oldturkey03 posted what you need. That should get you running.

Thanks Sir. I just hope the burning would go away after I do that.

@drec0xy - I’m sure it will.
