Hi,

If the fan is loud usually this means that it is operating at high speed.

The reason it does this is to keep the CPU working within its designed operating temperature and not letting it get too hot. If it gets too hot the PC will shutdown to protect the CPU from any damage.

Check if the fan vents are clean and clear of any obstruction.

If the vents are clear then perhaps the thermal paste that is between the CPU and the heat sink has dried out and needs to be replaced. The thermal paste improves the heat transfer from the CPU to the heat sink and then the fan expels the hot air.

Here's the maintenance and service guide for the laptop. Go to p.81 to view the procedure to remove the heat sink. This will allow you to check the condition of the thermal paste that is covering the CPU.

If the paste has dried out here's the ifixit How to Apply Thermal Paste guide that will help. Ifixit also sells [linked product missing or disabled: IF179-010] if you're interested.

Of course it could also just be a noisy fan. If the fan needs replacing go to p.60 of the manual to see how to remove it. Search online using the part number only (see top of p.60) to find suppliers that suit you best.
