Background
Initially released in 2012, the HP Elitebook 2570p was part of a line of laptops intended for use by business users. At time of release it was considered a high-end device, but has since become severely outdated. Despite this, it is still capable of basic office tasks, school work, and light media consumption.
There are also multiple practical ports in the HP Elitebook 2570p that modern laptops no longer typically include. On the right side of the laptop is a memory card reader, docking port, DisplayPort, ExpressCard/34 slot, eSATA/USB 3.0 port, and Kensington lock slot. On the left is an Ethernet port, Smart Card reader, and optical drive. Finally, on the back, there is a VGA port, a USB 3.0 port, and a USB 2 port. All these ports combine to make the laptop clunky and heavy for the average person, but could be useful to a more tech savvy user.
On release date, the laptop was priced at $949 for base configurations, and an upgraded model could’ve cost over $1,499. Most used versions price around $120-400. It commonly has problems when being upgraded to newer versions of the Windows OS, and updating may create driver instability. The HP Elitebook 2570p also has a short battery life and poor resolution in comparison to newer models.
Identification
The HP Elitebook 2570p is 12 x 8.2 x 1.1 inches with a 12.5-inch screen. It weighs 4.2 pounds (4.6 pounds with the 9-cell battery installed) and is light grey with an HP logo on the back and a black underside. To find the device’s exact model name and serial number, check on the bottom of the laptop or in the removable battery compartment.
