Can I install a battery from a newer unibody?

Being my battery is slowly dying, i need a battery soon

Can i get one for a late 2009 and up unibody 17''?

just to clarify, i have a early 2009 unit, i would prefer to install a mid or late 2009 battery if it's possible, maybe a early 2010

Up until late 2008 they used the same battery but in early 2009 they went to a bigger built-in battery. So if your MBP is a 2008 or older I would say the answer is no. Early battery is a MA458 68w unit--later battery is a 95w built in unit. Hope this helps.

Hi,

have you tired installing the newer battery yet?

I did it yesterday without even knowing and only found this thread today.

I went from the 73 Ah to the 77,6Ah version on a MBP 2009 / 2,66 GHZ and everything works fine so I suppose it migt also work on a 17"

My 2009 17" had a motherboard failure :-(. Fan controller went belly up, and a SMD resistor came loose.
