Can the logic bd be replaced?

Can I replace the logic board? I have a Late 2011 15'' Macbook Pro? My thunderbolt stoped working because a failure and the technician said that the only way it comes back is switching the logic board.

But then I realised that my MacBook Pro runs Core i7 2.2 Ghz and there are 2.5Ghz mother boards avaiable to buy.

My question is, switching my original motherboard to this another one can possibly bring trouble because of this difference of processor? Or it technically would work running 2.5Ghz and the thunderbolt comes back?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Here’s the guide MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Late 2011 Logic Board Replacement

This series can support either 2011 early or late boards, it can also support what I think is a better option a 2012 board as well with a slight modification. My own Late 2011 GPU logic died (a coming issue with the 2011 models) which is why I went with the better 2012 board. The LVDS cable needs a slight alteration otherwise it works flawlessly!
