makes all the right sounds does all the right things but when it is all done loading the whole thing is just frozen up. Mouse won't move key board won't respond. I have looked all over but can't find anyone with this same problem. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Just had this problem myself. For me, the mouse/trackpad and keyboard went dead. I need a new "topcase assembly" part 922-8036, which includes trackpad and keyboard.
You need to check your serial number to see which number of topcase assembly you would need.
I can buy it new for around $259 from Apple and have them put it in for $50-100, or buy it cheaper online (100-150) and have them put it in. I hear there's a manual here somewhere that shows you how to put it in yourself (free!)
