Why is the laptop suddenly not charging after keyboard replament?

I have recently replaced the keyboard on family member’s MacBook Air. This is not the first time I’ve done this, but this is the first time the computer suddenly stopped charging. I already tried two different chargers and made sure everything was plugged in tightly. Nothing seems to be obviously broken and after some tinkering I was able to get it to turn on, but the fan was at 100% speed and the computer only worked with the charger plugged in. Could this be an issue with the battery? This has never happened before nor did any situation similar to this happen. What should it do?

Update: After unplugging the battery the mac starts up as usual.

After more looking around, I found that the connection between the I/O board and main board was damaged. I am going to order a new cable and see what happens.

The SMC and PRAM reset did not help, it just gives me a screen that shows a low battery icon and lightning bolt icon below it. It then turns off again.

Give this a try, disconnect the battery, with nothing connected press and hold the power button a good 15 sec to fully drain the logic board of its charge.

I would also install this gem os an app to monitor your battery CoconutBattery

Post a snapshot of the main screen here so we can see things too

As soon as an unplug the battery the mac boots up, but everything is extremely slow. Does this mean that the battery is basically dead?
