not sure if it is a MacBook Air2020 Early or Late model.

just looking to confirm the replacement part when I add the part it tells me it is not compatible with my laptop here is the model and sn:

model is A2179

sn: C02D9AKKMNHP

not sure if this is an early 2020 or late

Based on the model number given, this is an Early 2020 MacBook Air.

As @guardian10 has said, your model corresponds to the Early 2020 model.

2020 was when the switchover from Intel i3/i5/i7 processor to Apple M1 processor happened. The Early 2020 model still had an Intel chip, while the Late 2020 version now carries the M1 CPU.

So you've got an Intel chip in yours - not that there's anything wrong with that. :)
