How do I fix the volume control for the 4A phone.

I can't change the volume of the top speaker when I am on a call on my Pixel 4A. I tried factory reset and that worked for awhile but it stops working after a few days. The volume control works fine when put it on the speaker phone bottom speaker.

A temporary fix that lasts sometimes for days/weeks...

Open phone app

Tap on 3 vertical dots in the upper right (kebab menu) to open phone settings

Select "Accessibility"

Turn "Hearing Aids" on then off again.

The volume adjustment will probably lock up again but this resets it. I can't believe Google/Android has not fixed this yet. It seems to be a persistent problem even in some newer phones.

Have you been into settings and confirmed ‘change volume with side buttons’ is turned on?
